A GIANT HALF CHICKEN ARMADILLO HORSE HYBRID TEARS DOWN THE NEWLY DISCOVERED ACID SNOW MOUNTAINS IN TEXAS!!!

There is no giant half chicken armadillo horse hybrid. There's also no newly discovered acid snow mountains in Texas. But I wrote that in the title.

On the internet you can surf all over the place, but if you're not careful you can be pulled into a whirlpool of lies and deceit.

With the amount of information sources out there, it's hard to know whats true or false. People have access to photoshop, face changers, and can even edit websites like Wikipedia!

Look at this photo, it's the famous giant woman on the roof of a house in Norway! But, it's not real. What can you believe on the internet?

FUN RUN FANTASTICAL - Connecting with buddies through a Scratch game!

This, is my 'FUN RUN FANTASTICAL' game. I have worked on it for quite a while so here it is!
As it is level 2 -  in Covid levels - we haven't been able to visit Team Pukeko, who are our buddy class over at Awapuni. Because of this, there aren't many ways we can connect with them in real life. However! We can, over the internet. Using our Cybersmart skills, we have created games on Scratch that our buddies can play ( or watch, in the case of a story) from their school and homes!

I am rather happy with my game, although I might go back and make it even better when I develop more advanced skills. The game itself in called 'FUN RUN FANTASTICAL' as you would know at this point, and the idea came from the Fun Run that you can read a little bit more about on some other posts on my blog! My cat sprite has to go through three levels of obstacles that were partly inspired by the fun run at Awapuni, and the time it has to get through gets shorter everytime!

Next time I would like to code a game that has some sort of consequence when you touch the obstacle/object/opponent etc, so that is my next goal. I tried adding some meowing sound effects for fun, but I think that I could make some more advanced music and sound effects. What do you think I could improve on? I hope you like my game, and feel like you can make a game yourself too!

EGGCELLENT EGG THROW POSTER!

This week, as part of our Inquiry with Mr. Scragg, we used some cool new tools to create some posters. The posters were for the promotion of our Grand Egg throw that we are working towards. My team is the Eggs-terminators as you can see on the poster below, plus our slogan, and logo - the egg up top - are included as well. Now you may be wondering what tool I used to make this poster, the answer would be PosterMyWall. I found it to be fun and easy to use, as well as free, so I can see myself using this in the future. The Egg throw itself is an event where teams make a creation to protect their egg, and it is thrown to see if the egg inside breaks or not. Anyways, that got a bit long. Here's a link if you would like to try PosterMyWall: https://www.postermywall.com/  And remember, support the Eggs-terminators, the rest of the teams are just yolks!

The fun run of the century.

A few weeks ago, my class -Manawanui- went to Awapuni School, to participate in a fun run. We were going to be running it with our buddy class, team Pukeko! The course had all sorts of obstacles, including a mud pit, hay bales, and nets to crawl under. Sometimes, me and my buddy got caught up (especially in the maze) but we kept going, and enjoyed the experience. Later on, I went to support and encourage on the sidelines, which was probably the best for me, since I was quite tired. Anyways, that was a brief description of my time at the Awapuni Fun run! Here is a photo of my class during buddy time!

BeFunky Collage.

This is my collage I created using a tool called BeFunky.
The collage is of a place called Tromso in Norway, where I want to go someday. I think that BeFunky
is a cool tool and I would like to use it in the future.

Lunapic.

Today we learnt how to use a tool called Lunapic, which can help you edit and manipulate photographs. I have so far made 4, which is a bit dissapointing, but I had trouble uploading photos. It was overall really fun!

Today me and Chloe, made a comic strip showing the negative effect of mean comments. I learned to use a new tool, called Comix which we used to make the comic strip on the last slide. What do you think of it?

Using Piskel.

Today we learnt about a new tool called Piskel.
I created a character that is supposed to look disgusted.
What do you think of it?

Photo Grid.

This is a photo grid we created for Inquiry. It is sort of like a continuation of the learning we did with Mr. Fourie last week, which was based around Copyright; and what we can, and can't use off the internet.

Creating a collage with a very specific rule....

This. Is my collage. It was made using a tool that you will most probably know of called Google Drawings. Now, for that rule I mentioned in my title, it was that we could only use copyright free photos! We could only use photos that were able to be used for the public domain. The tool I used to find the photos was a little thing called explore, which gives only copyright free photos, and also provides the link to where it came from. Now I will give a brief explanation for what each photo is starting from the top left, going across.
1. My name- Ngaire (I used the word art tool for this)
2. Something that I think is cool- a Gibson Explorer guitar.
3. My favourite colour- white (I used the snow to represent it)
4. My dream destination- Ireland.
5. Age- 13.
6. Favourite animal- A Dove.
7. Something I love- Nirvana.
8. My home country- Japan, England, New Zealand, and Germany ( I am half Japanese, half English, live in Nz, and was born and used to live in Germany)
9. Best subject- Music.
10. Favourite food- Mince and Tatties.
11. My family- A fox terrier since that is my dogs breed.
12. Nickname- Cherry blossoms since my second name is Hana which means flower in Japanese, and is the closest thing I have to a nickname.
Sorry that got a bit long. Anyways, I really enjoyed making this collage! It was a bit hard sometimes to find a photo that I liked, and was tempted to just get one off the internet somewhere, but I stuck with the rules and got it done! Do you think that I did a good job? Did I have a good caption? Leave a comment!

Manaiakalani Week 8.

Today in Manaiakalani, we created a sort of video intro to use in the future. I learnt how to make my own PNGs from Google drawings, which is the most useful tool I have learnt from this session. Another cool thing was using music in WE Video, I have never done that before so I thought that was interesting too. What do you think of mine?

Book Club Interview.

This week we were given another assignment to make a video using We Video; a tool that we learnt how to use last week. This week the video had to be an interview of our Book Club book characters, my book is The Boy In The Striped Pajamas, so the character I interviewed was Bruno. I am very happy that I was able to take most of the videos in one take, although I did mess up a bit on some sentences. My three questions were, "what do you think of your family?", "how did you feel when you moved?", and what do you think of your father?". I haven't read the whole book yet so some of the answers may be inaccurate. Please leave feedback if you would like to!

Lockdown Reflection Video.

Yesterday in Manaiakalani, we were assigned a task to make a 30 second video reflecting on our Lockdown experience. The three things we had to talk about were The best thing, the worst thing, and the weirdest/funniest thing about lockdown. I filmed mine last night and I am very happy that I was able to get the timing right, although admittedly it is dreadfully boring. I would like to refilm mine in the future to show how I can improve it.

I think the most challenging part was having to film several takes because I said the wrong words, or got the timing completely off, but when I finally got it right itr was very satisfying. Editing it was actually quite enjoyable, and was probably the easiest part of the process.

Overall I think it was a great challenge, especially because I don't really like filming myself, and it made me feel more confident in the end.

Last week as part of literacy we had to create a lockdown image. I made a drawing on Google Slides of the beach, as it was the first place I went after restrictions were loosened. I am quite happy with the image, although the sky looks a little dull. Is there any other details I could have added?

3 ANZAC Facts.

Here is another part of my inquiry project. For this, I read through some interesting ANZAC facts, and chose three that I found most intriguing. I had no idea that you can not only wear a Poppy, but you can also wear Rosemary to pay respect to those who served in the war! What do you find most interesting/ surprising? Do you have any other ANZAC facts?

Anzac art.

As part of my Anzac inquiry project I painted this piece using acrylic paint. I am still working hard on my Anzac inquiry, and hope to get it done by the end of this week. Since starting this project I have learnt a lot about the war, and the soldiers who fought in it, so it has been very interesting. It is a great way to learn things, while having fun, and building your skills in lots of areas. Is there anything I could do to improve my art skills in the future?
